• Continue making To-Do Lists
  • Reread Girl, Wash Your Face
  • Go exploring

If you read most of my blogs you’re probably like “McKayla, enough with the To-Do Lists… We get it!!” Too bad this is my blog and I am NOT going to stop talking about how important they are to my success. If you haven’t tried this method, you definitely should. Lists are the root of my organization. It helps me get the ball rolling in the morning to make sure I get what I want out of my day. It also gives me a way to outline my intentions for my day and more importantly, it holds me accountable to what I want to get done. If I don’t do something, I put an “x” in the box and looking at that makes me cringe a little. I just want to have all check marks and look at it before bed and be like “Wow I did a lot today” (Followed by a feeling of accomplishment). Goal #1 for August: Make a To-Do List every morning!

Now, if you know me really really well, or follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you know that I have been raving about this book… Girl Wash Your Face. You also know that I already read it. This is true. BUT when I read books it’s like I am so excited to say that I finished it and so I speed read and I don’t get everything out of it that I could. So, I want to reread this book before I start the next one. All Rachel’s points in this book are so important to me and I want to know this book like the back of my hand. Goal #2 for August: Reread Girl, Wash Your Face.

Okay, this one is important. When I’m with the kiddos all day, we play and play and play, and yes, it’s fun (also exhausting) but fun. BUT after they go down for a nap, or to bed, I am going to encourage myself to get out of the house and explore a little. One of the biggest things that I’m going to miss when I leave here is the location. I love it here so much that if I wasn’t going to college, didn’t have a relationship, a ton of friends, or family back home I would live here. Hands down I would. But some day I hope that I can come back here because not only is there so much to do, but it’s BEAUTIFUL here and there’s mountains 20 minutes away from where I live.

Exploring could mean hiking, or just going for a drive. It doesn’t matter what it is, but leaving the house is a big deal for me because it gives me a way to reset my mood. Goal #3 for August: Explore at least twice a week.

SO here’s my plan!!!

Yeah… So everyone says this and man I really learned this the hard way last month. You can write down as many goals as you want, but you aren’t gonna feel compelled to do them unless you have a plan. Last month I made a post for my July goals and let me tell you, I accomplished none of them. I’m still really frustrated about this but I’m going to turn my frustration into motivation to be better this month.

It was almost immediately after I posted that blog, I completely ignored those goals. I knew I wanted to do them, and when I didn’t I would get mad at myself. But I had NO plan whatsoever, they were just things I wanted to do. When was I going to do them? (Well, never I guess)

Another mistake I made last month was too many goals. I never thought it was possible to have “too many goals” and I don’t think it is, but in this context, I was so overwhelmed because I went from having no goals at all to like 7 that I wanted to do every day, so this month, I’m starting small.

Goal #1, make a To-Do List every morning.

Goal #2, read the book every morning before I get up and once I go to bed.

Goal #3, Explore two times a week.

Thanks for reading 🙂
